The NPI Warehouse Technician is a specialized material handler responsible for managing low volume prototypes intended for specialized engineering trials with a heightened degree of confidentiality due to the sensitivity of new programs.
The NPI Warehouse Technician collaborates with many cross-functional department leaders for scheduling of material arrivals, systematic receiving, transaction accuracy, transporting, storing, retrieving, preparing, and delivering correct materials in accordance with the desired build plans.
NPI Warehouse Technicians are proficient in multiple job functions with a heightened responsibility of accurately identifying unique trial parts that arrive through irregular processes.
Must be self-driven, system literate, and comfortable with investigating non-compliance in a complex and dynamic work environment.
This person is expected to prepare prototype materials by completing pull lists in a timely manner to support trial builds while driving continuous improvements to ensure operations are safe, efficient, and optimal.
This person will be expected to transport materials (Raw, Finished Goods, and Recycling) to final point of use using a variety of mobile equipment and systematic computer methods.
Additional rework may be required, so the NPI Warehouse Technician must quickly identify parts to be taken out of inventory for further testing by the engineers.
Computer proficiency and interface (input/output) will be required.
Experience with material handling equipment and warehouse systems are preferred.
What You'll Do Physical introduction of new material in production on schedule with implementation dates.
Systematic configuration of new or changing materials.
Coordinates with external warehouses to pull new material into facility.
Demand counters, MIN/MAX, replenishment quantities and home locations setup.
Provide NPI with inventory counts on physical material.
Removal of obsolete material in accordance with part specific disposition instructions.
Weekend support:
Expectation is 1 to 2 Saturdays each month but can increase or decrease based on workload.
Assisting in the implementation on new PC processes (e.
g.
, sequencing of materials).
Supporting special projects for PC, NPI, Pilot, or Process:
WH layout and design, signage, labeling, rack installation, procurement, removal, and/or demo.
Component validation and kitting for engineering build requests and programs.
Track actual parts used and update engineer on BOM accuracy.
Follow all Tesla policy guidelines including safety, inclusivity, and conduct.
Provided support for ALL Tesla team members when trial parts are needed to be delivered, stored, changed, or removed.
Accurately locate NPI trial parts with part number and revision, if not easily identifiable.
Familiar with MES, portable scanners, Microsoft excel, Microsoft outlook, and can interface across different internal portals such as packaging design and material planning.
Often will be required to complete additional reworks such as repackaging in addition to creating proper Tesla packaging labels with part number, home location, and quantity as NPI materials frequently come in with missing information.
Completes required paperwork to accompany outgoing materials such as Bills of Lading.
Potentially able to relocate and work independently in surrounding area around Fremont due to multiple warehouse locations and trial demands.
Will be placed in specific warehouse site as primary location; however, must be willing to work in all warehouse sites to include Fremont, 901 Page, Deer Creek, and Lathrop.
Ability to identify any discrepancies or quality issues and report findings to Supervisor and planner in timely manner.

What You'll Bring Packaging, Stocking, Transporting, and Shipping experience preferred Basic understanding of general warehousing operations and systems Computer skills are required - Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general knowledge of warehousing systems (MES, MFS, WARP, TMS, etc.
) Effective Communication - Proficiency of the English language, both written and verbal Must be trustworthy, driven, innovative, and collaborative with a positive attitude and commitment to excellence Ability to multitask and prioritize work to successfully accomplish job duties Forklift and additional warehouse mobile equipment experience required Ability to perform repetitious duties while standing for long periods of time Ability to lift 30-50lbs daily.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
