The Adult Employment Specialist will help adults find family-sustaining jobs in Alameda County.
Specific job activities include developing relationships with employers to match program participants with open positions and providing engaging and effective job readiness training to participants, with an emphasis in job search activities based on the participant's strengths and interests.
The Adult Employment Specialist will also represent La Familia in County meetings and meetings with partners, employers etc.
This individual will act as a content expert in the field of adult workforce development and will provide all non-budgetary contract and program management support necessary to fulfill the assigned contract goals and deliverables.
The Adult Employment Specialist will provide technical and administrative training and supervision to all staff and contractors supporting assigned adult employment programs and will liaise with funders and other stakeholders, including employers.
The Adult Employment Specialist will provide services directly to program participants to complement direct-service staff in the capacities explicitly-stated below and as required due to staff capacity gaps.

Essential Job Functions and
Responsibilities:
Identify, adapt, and deliver curriculum related to pre-employment skills (including resume, interviewing), work ethic development, career pathway planning, and other necessary skills related to employment; Update training workshops/materials as necessary based on participant/supervisory feedback.
Adapt and facilitate workshop content to specific audiences based on language skill, reading ability, and individual and cultural barriers.
Communicate effectively and build rapport with participants from multicultural and disadvantaged backgrounds, in the participant's native language or via an interpreter.
Maintain contact with employers and businesses which hired participants and follow up with participants placed in employment; Help and build listing of employers actively hiring.
Participate in workshops and events, with an emphasis on 1.
) Engaging participants through interactive activities and multimedia and 2.
) Creating an environment that facilitates emotional safety and personal growth.
Network with employers and other community partners to build a monthly calendar of pro-social events and activities designed to enhance participants' resume and pre-employability skills; Assist with planning of job fairs, hiring events, field trips, and other related events.
Provide support to other team members in tasks assigned by direct supervisor/manager.
Travel between program sites offices and provide rides to participants if or when needed.
Provide individual supports such as good working ethics, punctuality, trouble-shooting, and time management to participants selected for interviews with employer partner.
Provide motivation and support to employed participants during follow up period.
Work as part of a multi-system team and provide timely information to consortium partners around common participants.
Support outreach to engage new clients to participate in programming.
Work individually with participants to build rapport and complete/collect funder-mandated enrollment documents and assessments; create short- and long-term goals with participants related to education and employment to create participant's Individual Service Strategy Plan.
Work individually with participants to identify barriers to education and employment; counsel clients one-on-one to resolve/mitigate barriers; provide resources and limited funding as needed.
Engage local employers to support work-based learning opportunities, including internships, for enrolled students.
Collect and disseminate information on local economy and employment trends to advise employers and partners.
Employ strong interpersonal skills; ability to use collaborative approaches to build support for objectives; build positive relationships within and outside the agency; effective and timely dissemination of information.
Meet time commitments and follow through to task/job completion; strong work ethic, output, and capacity for responsibility.

Experience:
Provide evidence of adequate preparation, background, or experience for the position with emphasis in workforce development programming and employer services.
BA Degree in Relevant Discipline and/or Master of Arts degree in Business; OR
Experience:
Six (6) years of directly related work experience in an administrative or services capacity in the private or public sector or in sales; AND Two (2) years demonstrated experience in civic activities, community, employer, and/or workforce organizations/programs from which a candidate could show benefit.
Desired candidate will be bilingual in one of the following:
Spanish, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Arabic.
Non-Profit and Community Based Organization experience highly desirable.
Demonstrates and models excellent customer service orientation, especially in the ability to interact with people at all levels within and outside the agency.
Thinks independently and can make informed decisions when needed.
Exercises extreme discretion with the ability to hold, balance and transmit public and confidential information needed by various parties.
Proficient using MS Office products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Acquires or maintains proficiency in using Google Drive products, including Docs, Sheets, and Forms.
