THE POSITION: The job of Leaves/Benefits Technician is done for the purpose/s of providing support with specific responsibility for assisting with all aspects of employee leaves and benefit information; resolving insurance benefit, retirement, reporting and reconciliation problems; providing information to new and current employees, providers and/or administrators; and ensuring employee proof of coverage and accurate billing.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES? Administers employee benefit and worker's compensation programs in compliance with carrier contracts (e.g. enrolling new employees, explaining benefit options, organizing benefit fairs, mediating benefit eligibility and payment issues, open enrollment, filing claims, return to work, etc.) for the purpose of providing maximum coverage to employees within contract specifications.? Reconciles enrollment forms and billings to employee records (e.g. COBRA, disability, retirement, health, FMLA, CFRA/PDL, PFL, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accurate eligibility and payment information and complying with contract provisions.? Researches discrepancies between employee, payroll, benefit provider/s, and government agencies (e.g. insurance benefits, leave complaint issues, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of records and maximizing eligible payments.? Prepares a wide variety of written and electronic materials (e.g. reports, memos, compliance letters, emails, list of terminated/retired/LOA employees, differential pay notifications, unpaid leave, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.? Processes a variety of benefit information (e.g. new employee enrollment, carrier changes, reports, surveys, accommodation requests, health and wellness continuation options for retirees and separating employees, etc.) for the purpose of completing enrollment/changes within program guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS? Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required? Education: High school diploma or equivalent? Equivalency: Any combination equivalent to: graduations from high school and two years increasingly responsible experience in leaves and benefits administration. College coursework in accounting, human resources or related field and experience in a County Office of Education, school district or public agency is desirable or equivalent combination of education and experience.LOCATION: Alameda County Office of Education, 313 West Winton, Hayward, CA APPLICATION SCREENING & EXAMINATION PROCESS: Applications and resumes will be screened in based on established minimum qualifications. Applicants with the highest levels of training and experience will be notified via email of date, time, and place of the written exam.The process is as follows:? The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
